At R & D Farms, Richie and Divella raise and develop all of the animals they sell. None of their animals are given added growth hormones.  R & D Farms markets finished beef in wholes, halves, and quarters as well as some retail product.  All retail product is processed at USDA inspected facilities.  Their goal is to provide customers with the best product possible.

At R & D Farms, steers, heifers, and bulls are developed on a combination of grain, hay, and pasture.  They incorporate rotational grazing to best utilize their forages.  Their pastures consist predominantly of fescue, crab, and bermuda grasses with rye grass used as winter supplement.  Cattle are fed top quality bermuda hay from a local producer during the winter months.

How Much Meat Can You Expect?

Angus beef born and raised on our farm, developed on grass and grain finished, without the use of added hormones!
Accepting orders for:
*Quarter beef
$1.80/lb live weight (plus processing fees)

Half beef
$1.80/lb live weight (plus processing fees)

Whole beef
$1.80/lb live weight (plus processing fees)

The following information is approximate as each animal is different, and the cut instructions can also change the percent of final product.  Most of our animals will have a live weight of greater than 1000 pounds.  I use 1000 lbs. for easy calculations.  Animals will have a carcass/hanging weight of approximately 60-63% of the live weight, and the final product will be 60-63% of the carcass/hanging weight depending on the cut instructions.
Our animals typically have a finished live weight range of 1100-1300 pounds.
 
Whole animal breakdown:
  • 1000 lb. live animal
  • Carcass/hanging weight—600-630 lbs.
  • Final product—360-400 lbs.
  • Cost:  $1800 (plus the cost of processing)
 
Half beef breakdown on 1000 lb. live animal:
  • Carcass/hanging weight—300-315 lbs.
  • Final product—180-200 lbs.
  • Cost:  $900/half (plus the cost of processing)
 
*Quarters will only be sold with a matching quarter.  We will assist customers as much as possible in matching quarters.  For product fairness and processing ease, quarters must be cut the same.
